Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 25, 2026

This policy explains what we collect when you use it-depends.dev, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

We collect the details you type into our consultation form, and our host keeps standard server logs. That is all.

  • This site sets no cookies.
  • We run no analytics, no tracking pixels, no web beacons, no session recording, and no advertising technology of any kind.
  • We load no third-party content. Fonts are served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact any other company when you visit.
  • There are no user accounts, no logins, and no payments on this site.
  • We never sell or rent your information, and we do not send marketing to people who did not ask for it.
  • There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Who we are

IT Depends LLC is the data controller for the information described here. Our registered address is 1007 N Orange St., 4th Floor 3513, Wilmington, DE 19801, United States.

For any privacy question or request, email hello@it-depends.dev — this is the fastest route and it reaches a person. You can also call +1 415 800 4473.

What we collect

Information you give us

Our consultation form is the only place on this site where you can submit information. It collects:

  • Name — required, so we know who we are replying to.
  • Email address — required, so we can reply.
  • Company — optional.
  • Phone number — optional, only if you would rather we call.
  • Your message — required. Please send only what is needed to assess your idea. Do not include passwords, credentials, payment card details, government identifiers, health information, or anyone else's confidential material.

Every one of these is given voluntarily. If you would rather not use the form, email us directly.

The form also contains a hidden anti-spam field that is invisible to you and must stay empty. It collects nothing about you; it only helps us discard automated submissions.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider records standard web server logs when a page is requested. These typically include your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser's user-agent string, and the referring page. Server logs are a technical necessity for serving a website securely; we do not use them to build a profile of you, and we do not combine them with your form submission.

We do not collect precise location data, and we do not attempt to identify you from these logs.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR require us to name a legal basis for each purpose:

  • To reply to your enquiry and discuss possible work — our legitimate interest in responding to someone who contacted us about our services, and, where we go on to agree terms, the steps necessary to enter into a contract with you.
  • To keep the site available, secure, and free of spam — our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the site.
  • To comply with the law — where we must retain or disclose something to meet a legal obligation.

We do not rely on consent for anything on this site, because we do not do anything that requires it. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or business partners. It is shared only with:

  • Netlify, Inc. — our hosting and form provider. Netlify serves this website and receives your consultation form submission, which it stores so we can read and reply to it. Netlify acts as our processor and is bound by its data processing agreement with us.
  • Our email provider — because your enquiry reaches us as an email, it is handled by the provider of our business mailbox.
  • Professional advisers or authorities — only where we are legally required to disclose something, or need to establish or defend a legal claim.

If our business is ever sold or merged, information may transfer to the buyer. We would post notice here before your information became subject to a different policy.

Where your information is stored

We are a United States company and our provider stores data on servers in the United States. If you contact us from outside the US, your information is transferred there. For transfers of personal data out of the EEA or UK, we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses incorporated into our provider's data processing agreement.

How long we keep it

  • Consultation enquiries: 12 months from your last contact with us, then deleted. If we go on to work together, the records of that engagement are kept under our client agreement and for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Server logs: retained for a short period by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule, then deleted.

You can ask us to delete your enquiry sooner. See below.

Your rights

Email hello@it-depends.dev and we will action any of the following. We will not charge you, and we will not ask why. We aim to respond within 30 days.

  • Access — get a copy of what we hold about you.
  • Correction — fix anything inaccurate.
  • Deletion — have it erased.
  • Restriction or objection — tell us to stop or limit how we use it.
  • Portability — receive it in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — where we ever rely on it.

To verify a request we may need to confirm you control the email address that sent the enquiry.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding 12 months, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We do not collect sensitive personal information as the CPRA defines it.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS, and form submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiries is limited to the people who need to read them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please do not send us anything highly sensitive through a web form.

Children

This site sells business services and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us something, email hello@it-depends.dev and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

This site may link out to pages we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices — read their policies before giving them anything.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and post the new version here. If a change materially affects information you have already sent us, we will contact you directly rather than rely on you noticing this page.
